Dear First Communion Families,
We hope you and your loved ones are all well and that you’re able to enjoy some rest and relaxation this summer! Here is a brief update, as I know you are all eagerly awaiting the day your child will finally receive their First Holy Communion. We are actively in the planning process and hope to have full details to you of how best to complete preparation for your child and what First Communion will look like within the social distancing protocols.
We are hopeful that your child will be able to receive First Communion this summer at a regularly scheduled weekday or weekend Mass at St. Charles Borromeo, with his or her immediate family present; along with the congregation. We also want to help you and your child feel comfortable with the process of receiving the Host in their hands with a mask on, and then stepping to the side, lowering the mask, and consuming the Host.
Any family who wishes to wait until the pandemic restrictions are lifted is free to do so. If you want to postpone the Sacrament, let us know and we will add your child’s name to next year’s class, but at this time, we don’t know if restrictions will still be in place and what First Communion will look like in 2021.
Thank you for your patience. We will be in touch with you as soon as the plan is finalized.
