The Diocese of Rochester has made a strong commitment to provide a safe environment for all members of our community. To achieve this, ALL volunteers over the age of 18 who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults are required to sign a volunteer code of conduct, undergo a Criminal Record Check, and participate in Creating a Safe Environment training. This training can be done either online or by attending a scheduled session.

Training for NEW Volunteers
CASE for NEW volunteers may be taken online. To access online training:

  1. Open your web browser, and go to the web address: http://ec.dor.org (Note: there is no “www”)
  2. In the “Sign In” box on the left side of the screen, enter your Username and Password.
    Username: IT032 -- Password: rochester
  3. Click on “NEW VOLUNTEER CASE TRAINING” from the Menu at the top of the screen

When you successfully complete the session, print out the Certificate, Code of Conduct and the Results of the Quiz. These documents must be shown to Chris (Parish Office) or Margaret (Christian Formation Office). You will then be asked to complete paperwork for a criminal background check.

RETRAINING for Volunteers
Any volunteer who took CASE before January 2008 must be retrained before September 2012. This update can be done either online or by attending a scheduled session. To access online retraining:

When you successfully complete the CASE Retraining Program, print out the Certificate along with the updated Volunteer Code of Conduct. These two documents must be shown to Chris (Parish Office) or Margaret (Christian Formation Office). You may also be asked to complete paperwork for a criminal background check. You will then be updated in the DOR database.

TEEN Volunteers
Volunteers who are under age 18 will not have to complete the Criminal Record Check, but will be required to sign a Teen Volunteer Code of Conduct and attend a teen training session. There is no on-line teen training at this time.

Upcoming CASE Workshops for Volunteers
Holy Cross will be having the following CASE Training sessions: September 20 & October 25; both at 6:30 pm in the Parish Center. Call 663-2244 to register or for more information.
