St. Vincent de Paul Society

St. Charles Borromeo has a St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Society whose basic ministry is to help the poor obtain necessary furniture. We meet with potential clients to ascertain their needs and help connect them with other community assets as well. Every member of St. Charles, St. John, Holy Cross, and Mother of Sorrows parishes, as well as those who live in those geographic areas but do not worship with us, is eligible for assistance.

SVDP picks us furniture and other household items such as pots, pans, dishes, etc. that have been donated by people who are downsizing, settling estates after the death of a loved one, or simplifying their lives. Most of this is stored and given to those in need. Other items that have been donated are sold at our store located at St. Michael’s. The proceeds go to buy beds for those who have no beds and are sleeping on the floor. You might be shocked to find that there are indeed people who are that needy.

If you are in need, please call 663-3230 X103. If you know of someone who is in need of such help, please refer him/her to us. In addition, if you have furniture to donate, please feel free to call us as well.
