Update (#2) on the Former St. Charles Borromeo School Building

A message from Fr. John....

Dear Parishioners,

Dan Leitten, Finance Director, and I want to inform you of an important development regarding the Rochester Academy Charter School lease agreement. After signing the lease agreement in May of 2018, there was a lot of work completed by many parishioners to help get the school ready to be utilized by Rochester Academy Charter School. As some of you may have already heard, Rochester Academy Charter School was not granted the Certificate of Occupancy permit that was required for them to open the school by Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo. Since the Certificate of Occupancy permit was not granted in the necessary timeframe for the Charter School to start on September 5, they made the decision to move the school to another location.

At this time, we are not sure, nor have all the facts, what this development may mean for the signed agreement that the parish has with the Charter School; or if the Charter School still plans to utilize the north end of the building throughout the 2018/2019 fiscal year. We are working with the appropriate individuals and attorney to get this resolved.

As soon as more information is available, I will inform you of such and what that will mean for the utilization of our school building. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Additional Note from Fr. John:

At this time, we cannot start utilizing the north end of the school building until everything is settled with the Charter School lease. However, we can utilize the main entrance to enter the building (with the handicap ramp). All ministry meetings/gatherings should still continue to take place as planned/listed on the calendar until further notice. Thank you.
