Parishioners Bring Special Friends to be Blessed

The 2nd Annual Pet Blessing at St. Charles was a tremendous success. Dozens of parishioners brought their furry friends to receive a special blessing. Deacon Lon Smith, in celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, blessed dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, 2 special stuffed animals and even a horse (a photo of the horse stood in for the real thing). After photos and individual blessings, attendees received St. Francis prayer cards and medals and a certificate commemorating the occasion. It was a diverse group of animals from big Golden Retrievers to tiny mice, and yet everyone got along well and enjoyed sharing some time together. Remember to pick up your photos in the rear of the church Oct. 8 and 9, or after that in the Parish Office. Or visit St. Charles on Flickr to see a posting of all of the photos!
